Thoughts on “The Scent of Water”

CD - The Scent of WaterI’ve never written like this before. This work is all/only God’s word made into songs; always word for word, often with no change of order whatsoever. (But now and then I did make a ‘chorus’!) I used the NIV and KJV. There’s Psalm 121, Psalm 55, Isaiah chapter 53, the Gospel Prologue (John 1:1-14)… (some shorter passages, single verses too, and doxologies, etc…)

God was so faithful through the long learning process of recording this new album. The project was very challenging for me, (ask anyone in my church! :-) and as with all challenges, He used my fears and hurdles to prove Himself to be such a loving and capable Heavenly Father. Lessons in stewardship, timing, pride, trust, dependence, prayer, and listening (to HIM, I mean!) were underlined for me. I am always amazed and so grateful that He would care so much to bend down and help me. Isn’t He good? :-)

The title is taken from Job 14:7-9: “For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease. Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground; Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.”
